CAITLIN TINNION

Caitlin is from a rural village in the Wiltshire countryside. She studied Ba(Hons) Textile Design: Printed Textiles & Surface Pattern at Birmingham City University and went on to study bespoke tailoring at the Savile Row Academy, learning from the best tailors at Maurice Sedwell. Once the course was complete, Caitlin moved home and swiftly set up her workshop to create bespoke garment for friends and family, succeeded by building a client base through alterations and new projects. As she continues to work within tailoring, Caitlin also works on other textile design based projects to incorporate into her work and sit alongside it.

Alongside running this growing business, Caitlin is studying a Masters in Sustainable Fashion, a course looking at changing the system of the fashion industry to move it onto a future that considers people and planet in harmony. She intends to use the knowledge she gains to grow her business in a sustainably conscious manner and drive a fashion system that creates purposeful garments, connections between user and product and considers its impacts at every stage of design, making and use.

It's not all work for Caitlin as she has many interests to keep her entertained, many which get her outside. Her two lurchers get her out locally as well as being a Scout leader, and her love of climbing, sailing and cycling take her further afield. All of this provides inspiration for her work in print design and new ideas for form and function in her garments.
